Fenbendazole Powder – Internal Parasite Treatment for Ornamental Aquarium Fish

Fenbendazole Powder is a treatment compound commonly used by experienced aquarists when managing internal parasite issues affecting ornamental aquarium fish in both freshwater and marine aquariums.

Fenbendazole-based treatments are often used when managing intestinal worms, camallanus worms, and other resistant internal parasites. Many hobbyists turn to fenbendazole when other treatments are less effective or when parasite resistance is suspected.

This treatment can be used either directly in the aquarium water or mixed with food, though many aquarists find food-based dosing provides more consistent results for internal parasite issues.

Common Aquarium Issues This Product Supports

Aquarists commonly use fenbendazole-based treatments when managing:

• Camallanus worms

Treatment Instructions – Water Column

Dose 1 teaspoon per 20 gallons of aquarium water (approximately 100 mg per gallon).

Repeat treatment after 48 hours.

When treating resistant parasites such as camallanus worms, a third treatment approximately 3 weeks later is commonly recommended to address newly hatched parasites.

Note: Fenbendazole is not always readily absorbed through the water column, so some aquarists prefer food-based dosing for internal parasite treatment.

Treatment Instructions – Food Based

Mix ⅛ teaspoon per pound of food.

Offer as the primary food source for 3–5 days.

For resistant parasites, repeat treatment in approximately 3 weeks to help break the parasite life cycle.

Important Notes

Some fish species may show behavioral stress if sensitive to water-column dosing. If unusual behavior is observed, perform an immediate water change and reassess treatment.
