Metro Double Treatment Flake is a specialty flake food designed to help aquarists manage protozoan-related issues affecting ornamental aquarium fish while the fish are still actively feeding. This formula contains a higher concentration of metronidazole and is commonly used by hobbyists when stronger dietary support is needed during treatment.
Many aquarists prefer treatment foods because they allow the fish to receive the treatment internally while continuing to eat normally. This flake is the same formulation used in our own fishroom.
Raising aquarium temperatures to 86–90°F (30–32°C) during treatment is a common practice among hobbyists when managing hexamita-related issues, as warmer temperatures may help improve treatment effectiveness.
Common Aquarium Issues This Product Supports
Aquarists commonly use metronidazole-based foods when managing:
• Hexamita-related infections
• Hole-in-the-head symptoms
• Malawi bloat
• Chilodonella
• Freshwater ich
• Epistylis
This treatment food is not typically effective for worm parasites such as trematodes or other common internal worms.

Treatment may be repeated if necessary depending on the condition being addressed.
Some aquarists raise aquarium temperatures to 86°F (30°C) or higher during treatment and may also use Epsom salt to help support digestive health during treatment.
