General Parasite Treatment – Metronidazole & Praziquantel Formula

General Parasite Treatment is a concentrated aquarium fish treatment that combines metronidazole and praziquantel, two compounds commonly used by aquarists to help manage protozoan and parasitic issues in ornamental fish.

This formula contains no fillers, allowing hobbyists to dose accurately when addressing parasite concerns in freshwater aquariums. Many aquarists find that combining these two treatment compounds provides broader parasite management than using either compound alone.

Metronidazole is commonly used by aquarists to support treatment of protozoan-related issues, while praziquantel is widely used in the aquarium hobby for managing flukes and other parasitic worms.

A 50-gram jar of General Parasite Treatment powder contains approximately 200 treatment packets.

Treatment Instructions

Begin with a 25% water change prior to each daily dose.

Dose ¼ teaspoon (approximately 825–850 mg) per 20 gallons of aquarium water.

Continue treatment for 10–14 days.

Many aquarists repeat treatment after 3 weeks to address any newly hatched parasites.

This product may be used concurrently with Epsom salt and/or elevated aquarium temperatures (above 86°F / 30°C) when appropriate for the species being treated.

Coverage

A 50-gram container treats approximately 700 gallons of aquarium water.
